I was born and raised in Wellington, with a Swiss dad (that’s where the surname comes from) and a Kiwi mum. After study I travelled and ended up living in Switzerland for 7 years.
I was a librarian at the University of Auckland for 28 years. Early on I completed a BTheol, and have had some involvement with ANZTLA for most of that time.
Outside the library walls these are some of the things I get up to:
I have been a JP for 20 years, for the last 10 years organising a roster mainly to help students with immigration forms, declarations for submitting theses and sitting exams out of time. I have done a couple of citizenship ceremonies, and stamped more certified copies than I can remember.
I play Bridge at least once a week, mostly at the Akarana Bridge Club playing with my brother. It is the best card game but also frustrating because of the mistakes you make.
I have been involved in ministry with prisoners for the last 10 years. This can be at times rewarding and challenging.
I am a marriage and civil union celebrant. Some of the couples I have got to know from the libraries I worked in.
